Mixteca /Artisan Route

The Mixteca region is located in western Oaxaca and is characterized by its mountainous terrain. It is divided into the Mixteca Alta, Mixteca Baja, and Mixteca de la Costa, and boasts a rich indigenous heritage. Its economy is based primarily on agriculture and the production of handicrafts, such as palm weaving and pottery. Several indigenous languages ​​are spoken in this region, including Mixtec, Triqui, Amuzgo, Chocho, Nahuatl, and Ixcatec, in addition to Spanish.
