The Central Valleys of Oaxaca are a geographic and cultural region located in the center of the state. Its economy is based on agriculture, trade, and the production of handicrafts, such as pottery, textiles, jewelry, wood carving, palm weaving, and tinwork. Several indigenous languages are spoken in this region, including Zapotec and Mixtec, in addition to Spanish.
